The derby between Athletic Club and SD Eibar is the first in the history of the Liga BBVA, and it promises to be one of the most exciting games of matchday six of the championship.
The Rojiblancos are going through a sticky patch in which they have strung together three defeats on the trot. Therefore, Ernesto Valverde’s team will be looking to return to winning ways against an Eibar who already have seven points and are confident of taking more home with them.

The return of Ibai Gómez, who has now recovered from his muscle injury, is the biggest change to Athletic’s squad for this match. However, Valverde is still without the injured Ager Aketxe. For the visitors, the manager, Asier Garitano, will be missing the injured Manu del Moral.

"We need the points and we have to be mentally prepared to get them. I think Eibar look very good, which is a pleasant surprise for everyone. They are an optimistic team that are playing very well and have nothing to lose", stated the home coach, Ernesto Valverde. For his part, Gaizka Garitano, the visiting coach, was also keen to praise his opponents: "Athletic create a lot of chances and are very dangerous, above all in the San Mamés. We have to play well in defence. Their start in the league makes our match more difficult".
