Eibar ends with Athletic and keeps rolling

Eibar´s exciting start

With the leadership obtained after its victory in the opening matchday of LaLiga, Eibar started the match full of intensity, threatening Athletic. José Luis Mendilibar´s men tied opponent´s midfield and the first approaches came from the local side.

Laporte's penalty over Sergi Enrich

The key action of the first half came after a good combination between Keko and Sergi Enrich. The striker managed to get in to the box and Laporte could not avoid the contact and took the player down as he was ready for a cross. Saul Berjón did not miss from the penalty spot and took the lead to the "eibarrés" team.

Iraizoz

With Athletic dismasted by the great work of Eibar players, Gorka Iraizoz became the top man of his team, which kept within the match in the second half with several saves of merit. The home team managed to get easily through the wings and Ernesto Valverde's men struggled to connect with their forwards.

Adrián Gonzalez

Iraizoz kept his team within the match until Adrian Gonzalez´s appearance. The midfielder is probably in one of the best moments of his career after his arrival at the "eibarés" club, something certified with his second goal in two league games. He took an accurate corner kick to the far post to put a high header that slipped into Athletic´s goal, consolidating Eibar´s win.

Set Pieces

Athletic suffered a lot along the game - specially on the minutes after the second goal- in set pieces. The "eibarreses" had several chances inside the box and could close the match with a higher score due to the defensive mismatches of the "bilbaínos", who seemed to be exhausted after the European effort and are left with no points in two matchdays.
