RC Deportivo and UD Levante cross paths on matchday 37 of the Liga BBVA for a game that could have massive implications for both teams' futures. The Galicians have a clear goal: pick up all of the remaining six points available to wrap up safety in the division. However, the away side have a similar mission and will be looking to travel back to Valencia with a win that would mathematically guarantee them a place in the Spanish topflight next season.
Team news
Víctor Sánchez, the Depor coach, will have to make do without the injured Cezary Wilk for this encounter, although Juan Domínguez makes his way back into the squad. Levante will be without the suspended David Barral, as well as Papakouli Diop and Kalu Uche, who are both injured. Nikos Karabelas, Jordi Xumetra and Jason Remeseiro will also miss this match because of a technical decision.
Views from the dugouts
Víctor Sánchez sees this match as a "massive opportunity" to take a "step in right direction" towards achieving the objective of avoiding relegation: "important games provide professionals with a huge motivational boost. The team are looking at this game more as an opportunity than
a threat".
Elsewhere, Lucas Alcaraz, the Levante coach, emphasised the importance of this game for his team: "We are fighting for our survival just as Deportivo are. We have more points than them, but we’re involved in the same fight and have the same objective".
