CA Osasuna defeated Getafe CF in the 25th round of Liga BBVA fixtures. The side from Navarra took a big step towards moving away from the relegation zone, whilst the Madrid side are now eight games without a win.
The match started at El Sadar with a lot of fluidity. Getafe took the initiative and pressured the home side’s defence. In the sixth minute however, in a quick play, Oriol Riera hammered the ball past Miguel Ángel Moyà from the edge of the area to put the Basque side ahead. Getafe had numerous opportunities to draw level, but Andrés Fernández was not for being beaten between the sticks. Bad luck struck just before the break when both sides were forced to make two substitutions due to injuries to Patxi Puñal, Ciprian Marica, Rafa López and Miguel De las Cuevas.
Following half time, Luis García Plaza’s side continued to create danger, however they couldn’t make the breakthrough, as the home side looked to play on the counter attack. It was on the break where the match was sealed, Roberto Torres scoring Osasuna’s second to send Getafe back to the capital with a damaging defeat.
