Cristiano Ronaldo was one of the grand protagonists of the Liga de Fútbol Profesional Awards Ceremony, receiving one of the night's most important garlands, the LFP Grand Prize of Most Valuable Player.
"It was a very good year, and it was not a surprise because since I arrived my teammates and I have been playing a very high standard of football. It is an honour and privilege to receive this great award for the Most Valuable Player, it motivates me to keep working harder. I feel like a very important player at Real Madrid and I hope it stays that way. I am proud to be in the Liga BBVA. It is no coincidence that I have renewed with the club for five years. To me this is the best league in the world and I am at the best club in the world, how could I not be happy? Hopefully next year I can win the award for the best player. I will be working towards it", said the forward after collecting the award.
Real Madrid CF’s Cristiano Ronaldo arrived in Liga BBVA in the summer of 2009 with the intention of becoming one of the biggest stars in the club’s history. Today, four years on, the Portuguese can be satisfied: he has achieved his dream and broken all sorts of records.
Thanks to his personality and current run of form, Ronaldo has shown himself to be a pillar of the dressing room. He is now in the top five all-time goal scorers at Real Madrid, largely down to the 34 goals he scored in Liga BBVA last season, achieved in only 34 games. He missed four matches and played the full 90 minutes on 25 occasions.
His electricity and potency helped him achieve an outstanding end to last season with his club, almost reaching the UEFA Champions League final and coming second in Liga BBVA. In total he scored 55 times in all competitions, 12 of which came in Europe.
His goals were key in various moments throughout the season, but his talent shows no sign of ending. This season the forward has notched up a spectacular amount of goals and looks ready to go further than ever before.
