Córdoba recorded a vital win over Granada in the 17th matchday of Liga BBVA as the fight for survival hots up. First half strikes from Nabil Ghilas and Florin Andone sealed the 2-0 win.
The Nuevo Arcángel welcomed in 2015 in style as Córdoba showed their class in the first half. Ghilas, who started lively, scored the first on the quarter hour after latching onto a Patrick Ekeng pass. The visitors tried to force their way back into the tie, but could not take their chances, and it was the home team who doubled their lead through Florin just before half time.
With the wind in their sails, Córdoba were able to hold off all Granada could throw at them in the second half. Only a long range effort from Piti forced their goalkeeper into action on an otherwise quiet evening. The result means that Granada are now 13 without a win, while the hosts gain momentum in their quest to leave the drop zone.
