RC Celta came back in the match against Valencia CF (2-1) on matchday 19 of the Liga BBVA. The result will have given the Galician outfit its confidence back while halting the progress made by Valencia in the new year.
Celta created the most danger in the first half and a great chance for Charles could have put the home team ahead. But the Brazilian forward's shot was met by a brilliant Diego Alves who saved his team from going a goal down. The Valencian side, however, were able to make the most of their best chance and after a cross from Sofiane Feghouli it was Dani Parejo who put the ball in the back of the net, giving Juan Antonio Pizzi's men the advantage before the break.
But the Galician side only needed five minutes of the second half to draw level with a shot from Charles following a poor clearance from Valencia's rear-guard. The Celta striker, the star of Luis Enrique's side's comeback, sealed the 2-1 that gives the home side breathing space in the last of the first round of Liga BBVA matches.
