FC Barcelona 4-0 Borussia Mönchengladbach
A 17-minute hat-trick from Arda Turan saw Barcelona ease to a comfortable win against Borussia Mönchengladbach at the Camp Nou. With top spot in Group C already wrapped up, Luis Enrique named a changed side featuring Arda Turan and Paco Alcacer up front alongside Lionel Messi. It was Messi who handed Barcelona an early lead, playing a neat one-two with Arda Turan in the box before slotting home into the bottom corner for his tenth goal of this season’s group stage and his 51st Champions League goal at the Camp Nou.
Leading 1-0 at the break, Barcelona pulled away and wrapped up the win with three goals in under 20 minutes. Turan doubled his side’s lead on 50 minutes, heading in Denis Suarez’s deflected cross, before scoring his second of the night just three minutes later when he rounded off excellent link-up play from Messi and Aleix Vidal on the edge of the box. The Turkish midfielder clinched his hat-trick on 67 minutes, latching on to Paco Alcacer’s pass across goal to fire home from close range.
Barcelona progress as group leaders along with second-placed Manchester City who drew 1-1 at home with Celtic.

Bayern Munich 1-0 Atletico Madrid
Both sides went into the game knowing that the final group standings had already been determined after Atletico Madrid’s win over PSV on Matchday 5 confirmed their position as Group D winners. Diego Simeone named a strong side nonetheless, starting Antoine Griezmann and Yannick Carrasco together up front, but saw his side go into the break 1-0 down thanks to Robert Lewandowski’s pinpoint free kick from the edge of the box.
The hosts had the better of possession in the second half (65% to 35%) as Atletico looked to create chances on the counter attack but Simeone’s side were unable to find a way through. Kevin Gameiro came on mid-way through the second half to add some physical presence in attack but in the end Bayern held on for what was their 15th consecutive home win in the Champions League.
Atletico will go into the draw for the round of 16 as group leaders alongside Bayern as runners-up.
