Real Madrid grabbed an away win at the very end with both their goals coming from corners. The result keeps Zinedine Zidane’s side 12 points behind the leaders FC Barcelona and four short of second-placed Atletico Madrid. For Las Palmas the defeat ended a run of three straight wins but they can take many positives from the game.
Bright start
Las Palmas started brightly and took the game to Madrid. After only 10 minutes, Luka Modric was caught in possession and the ball broke to Willian Jose in space, but Keylor Navas was quick off his line to make a smart save.
Ramos header
Cristiano Ronaldo was played through on goal by Modric soon after, but the Portuguese forward was unable to beat Javi Varas in the one-on-one. From the resulting corner though, Madrid took the lead. The ball was swung in by Isco and Sergio Ramos angled a superb header inside the far post for his second Liga BBVA goal of the season.

Las Palmas pressure
Las Palmas had the upper hand early in the second half when Navas was called into action a couple of times with Quique Setien’s side pressuring Madrid high up the pitch. Zidane’s team have struggled away from home and had only won two of their their last six games on the road.
Equaliser
Madrid conceded when Momo made an interception in midfield and powered forward to feed Willian Jose in the area. The Brazilian former Madrid player advanced on Keylor Navas and lifted the ball over the Costa Rican to level the scores in the 87th minute. It was his seventh Liga BBVA goal.
Casemiro reply
Las Palmas barely had time to enjoy the leveller. At a corner two minutes later, Zidane’s side restored their lead. The ball was floated to the back post where Casemiro powered a header in from close range - his first goal in the Liga BBVA this season. There was still time for Sergio Ramos to pick up a second yellow card before the final whistle, but Madrid hung on with 10 men.
