With the 2014 FIFA World Cup just around the corner and Europe’s biggest leagues all done and dusted, Liga BBVA clubs have already begun to make plans for next season. This time it was the turn of Granada CF, who confirmed on their website the signing of Joaquín Caparrós as their coach for the next two seasons, with the option of a third.
Caparrós, who last season was at the helm of Levante UD, the team he led to tenth position in the Liga BBVA, brings great experience to Spanish football after managing teams such as Villarreal CF, Sevilla FC, RC Deportivo de La Coruña, RCD Mallorca and Levante.
Joaquín Caparrós has a great record as a coach. He won the Liga Adelante with the team from Seville in the 2000/01 season, and took the Galician outfit to the final of the UEFA Intertoto Cup in the 2005/06 season. He has also qualified for several European competitions with Sevilla and Athletic Club.
