- The league leaders head to the Calderon on the back of four straight victories in LaLiga Santander, in which they've scored 15 goals. They will be bidding to make it a high five this weekend in order to claim bragging rights and continue sitting pretty at the top of the table.
- Although Alvaro Morata remains out, his fellow striker Karim Benzema and key defender Sergio Ramos have recovered in time for one of the biggest games of the season. The influential duo's availability will be a major boost to their side's hopes of coming away with three points.
- Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane heaped praise on Atletico ahead of the encounter: "They're a team who get better and better every year. They've got a very good coach who has really stamped his mark since he took charge and is doing a phenomenal job."
