Bruno Soriano, the Villarreal CF central midfielder, was given the BBVA Fair Play Award in the Liga Adelante category for being one of the Yellow Submarine’s most charismatic players.
"I always try to play fair, not to go into challenges too hard and to simply tackle without harming anyone, although I am not the only one to do that, a lot of players do it. It is an unexpected award for me, but I am very grateful. Our fans stuck with us all through last season and that was great", said the midfielder.
The Artana (Castellón) native embodies The Yellow Submarine spirit, and at 29 years of age has been with Villarreal throughout his whole career, starting in the youth ranks before making his first team debut on the 1st of October 2006, and then establishing himself as one of the best centre midfielders in Spanish football.
Despite relegation to the Liga Adelante, Bruno stuck by Villarreal and helped with the side’s push for promotion, which it achieved after a successful campaign last season. Thanks to his technical know how with the ball at his feet, his extraordinary vision and his natural leadership skills, Soriano was not only a stalwart in his own team, but became one of the key players in the Liga Adelante.
Since his return to the Liga BBVA, Bruno has continued to impress on the pitch, leading a team that has consistently been putting in great performances and has become one of the great revelations of the 2013/14 campaign.
