FC Barcelona and Athletic Club had mixed fortunes in their UEFA Champions League clashes. The Azulgranas beat AFC Ajax 3-1, but the Rojiblancos were unable to deal with FC Porto, who won 2-1.
The side coached by Luis Enrique picked up their second victory in the group stage after beating Ajax 3-1. Barça's first goal came after 7 minutes, when Leo Messi set up Neymar to score his second goal in Europe this season. It was the Argentinian who later made it 2-0. The visitors' goal came in the 89th minute. In the dying seconds Sandro Ramírez completed the rout with a third goal for the Azulgranas. The other match in group F Paris Saint-Germain beat APOEL FC 0-1.
Athletic failed to cope with Porto FC, who scored their first goal on the verge of the break. Ernesto Valverde's men managed to level the match with a great individual move from Guillermo Fernández. After the goal, the Rojiblancos played their best football of the match, however, Ricardo Quaresma put Julen Lopetegui's side ahead again to seal the 2-1 scoreline. After this result Athletic are bottom of group H with one point; in the group's other match FC Shakhtar Donetsk filled their boots to beat FC BATE Borisov 0-7.
