• In his third season with the side from Gijón, Bernardo has consolidated himself as a leader in defence of the side managed by Abelardo Fernández. With a total of 41 matches behind him in the current season, the central defender, along with Luis Hernández, has played 3,690 minutes, making him the player to have most worn the Sporting shirt this year.

• The Asturian side conceded the fewest number of goals in the whole division, and Bernardo was a key factor when it came to Sporting achieving this feat. The central defender recovered possession 166 times, had a 51% success rate in one-on-one duels and used his physical power to achieve 68% efficiency when it came to clearing aerial balls.

• Bernardo, at the same time, is not only effective when it comes to cutting out chances for his opponents. He is the Sporting player that has completed the most passes with 1,686 in total. He has a 75% completion percentage with his passes and scored three goals last season.
