Barral shines for an inspired Levante

Levante UD downed Málaga CF 4-1 in round 22 of fixtures in Liga BBVA. Lucas Alcaraz’s side showed top form to record their 100th victory in the top flight and pick up three points which allows them to - temporarily at least - escape the drop zone.

Málaga struck first, taking the lead through Juanmi early on. However that was all a ruse, as shortly after the David Barral show took over. First he beat Carlos Kameni with a powerful effort from the edge of the box, before making it 2-1 from the spot just before the break.

Two goals were not enough to satisfy his thirst for goals, and in the second half the referee once again pointed to the spot as Sergio Sánchez took down Jordi Xumetra. Barral found the back of the net as he registered his first hat trick as a Levante player. Lucas Alcaraz’s side then made it 4-1 as debutant Kalu Uche rounded off the scoring at the Estadio Ciutat de València.
