Barcelona defied by valiant Getafe

0-0 between Getafe CF and FC Barcelona in Matchday 15 of this season’s La Liga BBVA, Cosmin Contra’s men putting a stop to the Azulgranas’ excellent run of four consecutive wins.

Getafe stayed compact and organized through the first 45, ceding the visitors very few opportunities. Luis Suárez and Leo Messi did both carve out chances, but missed the target, and in fact Getafe had the best chance of the half: on the half hour mark, Lafita stinging the gloves of the outstanding Claudio Bravo.

It was much the same in the second half, with Getafe refusing to let Luis Enrique’s men have their way. Leo Messi popped up with a couple of good chances, hitting the post and forcing a save from Vicente Guaita. Getafe eventually tired, and Barcelona flooded their defence in the closing stages, but to no avail. Contra’s men managed, somehow, to hold out, securing a famous point.
