FC Barcelona were crowned champions of the 21st edition of the LaLiga Promises International Tournament in Puerta de la Cruz, Tenerife after running out 6-1 winners against Atletico Madrid in the final.

The Catalan outfit came out all guns blazing and it took them just six minutes to get their noses in front. It was Xavier Planas who broke the deadlock, netting a fine solo effort which saw him pick the ball up with his back to goal, before evading the challenges of several defenders to powerfully slot home. Just five minutes later, the Azulgranas doubled their advantage when Pol Muñoz unleashed a powerful angled drive from the edge of the area.

The Rojiblancos looked to claw their way back into the game, but they slipped further behind after a somewhat fortuitous goal saw Barça establish a three-goal lead. A cross from the left ricocheted off Atleti defender Jorge San Jose and agonisingly looped over his goalkeeper and into the net. Before the break, Barcelona made it 4-0 when Planas let fly from practically halfway into Atletico territory with a thumping effort which nestled into the bottom corner.

After the interval, a Joao Giordano own goal compounded Atleti's misery and with just minutes remaining, Toni Caravaca stroked the ball home from the edge of the area to complete the rout. There was however still time for the Madrilenians to hit a late consolation, which came when an injury-time free-kick was headed home.

Their exploits in the final saw Planas and Caravaca end the tournament as the competition's leading goalscorers.
