FC Barcelona will play at home in Camp Nou against UD Almería on Wednesday at 8pm CET for matchday 30 of the Liga BBVA. Los azulgranas, who are top of the table, will be in search of another victory in order to extend their lead to four points over Real Madrid, who trail them in second place. Meanwhile, Almería will be trying to get a good result from their trip to Barcelona to help towards their fight for safety. Sergi Barjuán will be making his managerial debut for Almería against the team he made most appearances with during his playing days.
Team news
Luis Enrique will have to deal with a number of key absences. The Asturian coach will be without the injured Thomas Vermaelen and Jordi Alba, as well as the suspended Sergio Busquets. Meanwhile, Sergi Barjuán’s first teamsheet with the Andalusian outfit will not feature Verza, Míchel Macedo or Fran Vélez, who are all injured, nor Sebastián Dubarbier and Mauro dos Santos, both of whom are carrying suspensions.
Views from the dugouts
Luis Enrique, the Barcelona boss, spoke about his former team-mate and now rival on the Almería bench, Sergi Barjuán: "I’m delighted he has been given this chance and I'm certain he'll make the most of it, although I hope that doesn't happen before Thursday". Almería’s new coach, Sergi Barjuán, is fearless ahead of Wednesday's meeting: "We cannot show any fear nor too much respect in the Camp Nou. We have more to gain than to lose"
