Club Atlético de Madrid have carried on where they left off. After winning Liga BBVA in 2013/14, Atlético have started the new campaign by winning the Supercopa de España, downing Real Madrid 2-1 on aggregate.
After the 1-1 result at the Bernabéu, Diego Simeone's men used their away goal to their advantage, and were able to see off their city neighbours and reigning Copa del Rey and Champions League holders.
It is Atlético's first Supercopa win in 29 years, with their first and last coming in 1985 against FC Barcelona (3-2). It is another trophy for Simeone to add to the cabinet, having already conquered the Liga BBVA, Copa del Rey, Europa League and European Supercup at the Calderón.
The Rojiblancos could not have wished to start the season in a better way as they look to retain their Liga BBVA crown, win their first Champions League and go far in the Copa del Rey.
