Atlético leave Elche with no options

Atlético Madrid won 3-0 against Elche CF on matchday 33 of the Liga BBVA. Atlético got their 22nd win of the league season thanks to goals from Antoine Griezmann and another from Raúl García, and are in third place on 72 points. Elche arrived the Vicente Calderón having won their last two games in a row, are in 14th for the moment on 34 points.

Elche were well organised during all of the first half, however they could not prevent Atlético from dominating and created a lot of dangerous opportunities. Elche’s keeper, Przemysław Tytoń, kept his men in the game with two great saves against Raúl García shots while Fernando Torres also had two good chances to score against Elche. However, half-time arrived with the score at 0-0.

After another two chances from Griezmann and Torres, Atlético finally got their reward in the 55’ minute. It had to Griezmann, the rojiblanco hero in so many games, who opened the scoring and broke down Elche’s resistance. The 1-0 score spurred on Diego Simeone’s men and they increased their lead with a cracking long range hit from Raúl García that surprised Tytoń. Finally, Griezmann rounded off an excellent game by making it 3-0 in the 77’ minute.
