Angel Correa named LaLiga Santander Player of the Month for January

Angel Correa takes the LaLiga Santander Player of the Month Award for January. The Atletico Madrid midfielder was the standout player in a month in which the Rojiblancos amassed seven points and avoided defeat.

Atleti got off to a solid start in 2022, recording two wins and a draw in the last three games played. With his brace against Rayo Vallecano at the Wanda Metropolitano, his opener away to Villarreal CF and the first strike in the comeback against Valencia CF, Correa has been the shining star in the Rojiblanco's attacking play.

His nose for goal, his vision, and his ability to link up and engineer space have made him a key cog in 'Cholo' Simeone's machine. He netted four of his team's seven goals in January and, with a total of eight, becomes the season's top scorer for the Rojiblancos. He is undoubtedly a midfielder with a striker's calling!

The Rosario-born player takes over the reins of this trophy from the Real Betis striker Juanmi, December's winner, coming out on top in the voting ahead of the other candidates for the accolade: Sergio Canales (Real Betis), Iñigo Martinez (Athletic Club), Jorge Cuenca (Getafe CF), Santi Mina (RC Celta), Pere Milla (Elche CF) and Gerard Pique (FC Barcelona).
