The aim is to break into the Champions League places. That is the task at hand for Sevilla CF, who play hosts to Córdoba CF for matchday 24 of the Liga BBVA, and who are looking to climb into fourth spot for a chance of playing in the most prestigious of the European competitions next season. Meanwhile, Córdoba will be hoping to secure three points that would move them out of the relegation zone.

Unai Emery has a long list of injuries for this game: Beto, Benoît Trémoulinas, Sebastián Cristóforo, Stéphane M' Bia, Coke Andújar, Iago Aspas and Kevin Gameiro. The home team will also be without Diogo Figueiras who will miss this game due to an accumulation of yellow cards. For his part, Miroslav Đukić still has to make a decision about whether or not Fidel Chaves will play, while Fausto is suspended for this encounter.

Unai Emery spoke about Sevilla’s injury problems ahead of the game: "The injuries cannot be used as an excuse. We have to make the most of the atmosphere in the Sánchez Pizjuán". His counterpart in the opposite technical area, Miroslav Đukić, looked ahead to the match with optimism: "We have shown that we can give any team a go". The Serbian also stated that his main objective is "regaining the balance in the team".
