Ambitious Eibar aim to avert Blancos backlash

Team News:

- SD Eibar: Nano and Fran Rico (both injured); Florian Lejeune (suspended)

- Real Madrid: Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane (both injured); Gareth Bale and Alvaro Morata (both suspended)

Match Facts:

Eibar (7th, 39 pts):

- The Basques have been unplayable at Ipurua as of late, racking up three straight victories on their own patch and scoring 10 goals across those encounters (an average of 3.3 per game). If they can stretch that run to four this weekend, it would set a new club record in the top flight, as well as giving them a chance of ending the matchday in the European places.

- Pedro Leon is in the form of his life and will be eager to remind former club Real Madrid of what he's capable of. The 30-year-old has scored eight goals in LaLiga Santander this term, the joint-highest tally for a midfielder alongside Yannick Carrasco.

- "Sometimes two or three moments of magic are all it takes for them to carve you open. They'll be coming here for three points after seeing their lead over the rest disappear. If they want to win the league, they're going to have to string together some wins." This was Eibar boss Jose Luis Mendilibar's verdict on his side's opponents this matchday.

Real Madrid (2nd, 56 pts):

- After dropping five points out of the last nine available, Zinedine Zidane's charges cannot afford another hiccup. Despite being without several important players, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, they will be going all out to bag maximum points and return to the top of the table, at least provisionally.

- Los Blancos have run out victorious and kept clean sheets on each of their two previous league trips to Ipurua.

- Despite being held by UD Las Palmas, Madrid broke new ground in midweek: the 3-3 draw was the 45th straight game in which they have found the net in all competitions, the longest streak ever registered by a LaLiga club.
