Villarreal CF and RCD Espanyol face off on matchday 30 of the Liga BBVA for a game of attractive football between two sides desperately in search of a victory. Both outfits will be looking to get back to picking up good results following winless streaks of four and three games respectively. The last meeting between the teams in El Madrigal ended with a 2-1 home win.

Team news

The Yellows head into this clash without Denis Cheryshev, Bruno Soriano and Adrián Marín, whose injuries have already been confirmed. Meanwhile, Álvaro González makes his way back into Sergio González's squad following his suspension, and Rubén Duarte will also be making his return for the Catalans. Juan Fuentes and Salva Sevilla are both suspended for this fixture.

Views from the dugouts

The home team's manager, Marcelino García Toral, emphasised the significance of this clash in terms of his players fulfilling their objectives: "This is a very important match because we have not picked up a win in a while and getting three points would be a big step towards achieving our objective of playing in Europe next season".

Elsewhere, Sergio González revealed he will be making changes following his team's recent poor run of results. "We have four extremely demanding games in a short space of time and now is the time to give all of the players a run out for the benefit of the team".
