The financial performance of LaLiga's clubs and public limited sports companies (SADs) continues, year on year, to evidence the effectiveness of the financial control measures imposed by LaLiga. As well as offering the LaLiga Santander and LaLiga 1l2l3 clubs financial stability, the established regulations on financial matters, amongst many others, serve to provide the clubs' players with assurances. Following on from the record low recorded at the close of last season, in which only one complaint was received, the January deadline during the 2016/17 campaign has been reached without a single player submitting a complaint relating to non-payment.

The latest Joint Commission of the Professional Football League (LFP)/Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE), held during the first days of January 2017, confirmed the results recorded by the previous deadline, with no complaints having been received by 15 December. This statistic represents the culmination of a trend witnessed over recent years, in which there has been a reduction in both the number of clubs owing players money and complaints submitted, as well as the amounts of money involved. At the same stage of the 2014/15 season, 48 complaints had been brought by players against their clubs, amounting to a total of €3,304,177.52, whilst in the 2015/16 campaign, the single complaint submitted saw this figure drop to €7,041.66, with this trend continuing in the current campaign to reach the zero mark.

This landmark evidences the attainment of the objectives laid down by Javier Tebas since assuming the LaLiga presidency, with this target and the aim of reducing the debts owed by clubs and SADs to the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT) forming two key areas of Tebas's vision for the future of the institution. As such, LaLiga's drive to improve the financial state of the LaLiga Santander and LaLiga 1l2l3 clubs continues to satisfy its aim of cleaning up their finances, whilst offering stability and growth.
