Sevilla FC downed Málaga CF 2-3 in the final game of Liga BBVA, a win that sees the visitors confirm their place in the group stages of next season’s UEFA Europa League. José Antonio Reyes, Éver Banega and Aleix Vidal scored for Sevilla; Javi Guerra scored twice for Málaga.
It was a game between two sides looking to seal their European places at La Rosaleda. The home side needed to win to get into the Europa League, while the visitors were battling it out for fourth place with Valencia. Málaga took the initiative, forcing Sergio Rico into action on more than one occasion. The first effort came from Javi Guerra, before Juanmi then went close shortly after. Sevilla, meanwhile went closest through Vidal.
The second half brought the best from the visitors. Reyes made it 1-0 on the counter after 53’, before Banega made it 2-0 to seal the win. The lively Vidal then put his side further ahead with a goal his performance merited. Málaga, to their credit, did not give up, and cut the deficit thanks to a Guerra double, although the damage had been done and Sevilla took the points.
