Matchday 33 of the Liga BBVA kicks off with the game at the Nuevo Arcángel between Córdoba CF and Athletic Club. The Andalusian side, who are 20th in the table, will see this game as another opportunity to get points, following the valuable point they managed last week against Villarreal CF. It is also a chance to send out a message of hope to their fans. Athletic are comfortably placed in the upper reaches of the table and see a way of increasing their possibility of qualifying for the UEFA Europa League.
Squads
José Antonio Romero goes into the game with hope, however he will be without Borja García who will miss his second game due to a ban. Likewise Iago Bouzón and Federico Cartabia are out injured. Ernesto Valverde will make the trip Bilbao with 18 players, but will not be bringing Iker Muniaín, Guillermo Fernández and Mikel Balenziaga as they are injured.
Thoughts of the coaches
The Córdoba coach predicts "a competitive and dynamic game and we hope to be able to meet the demands of the game. This is a game where we can recover and get points because we are in need of them". However, for Valverde, this is a good chance to "put pressure on our opponents. This is a game that we have to go and win and that we are going to go and win", declared the manager making reference to his possibilities of reaching the UEFA Europa League.
