The two bottom placed Liga BBVA sides, Real Betis Balompié and UD Almería, come face-to-face this Saturday at 18:00 with each team looking for a positive result to take them into the New Year with a fresh outlook.
It will be Juan Carlos Garrido’s first league match incharge of the Betis in front of the Benito Villamarín fans, and he’ll be looking to make amends after a disappointing 5-1 away defeat to Real Sociedad on his debut as the Green and White’s new coach. Missing from the Betis line up will be Antonio Amaya in defence who is out with a muscular injury. “Everyone knows this is a crucial match. Everyone associated withBetis, including the players, the technical staff, the executives and the supporters, knows this is vital”, declared a mentally resolute Garrido.
The Almería squad will be equally focused on its trip to Seville, with the team sitting second last in the league, two points ahead of Betis. The visitors will be boasted by the return of their top goal scorer Rodri. However, Miguel Ángel Corona will not feature in the Andalusian derby. "We have to demand the maximum intensity, aggressiveness and focus from ourselves", explained Francisco in his pre-match press conference.
