A familiar foe stands between Barcelona and Champions League quarter-final target

The Champions League is back and the top clubs in Europe are gearing up for action, including an FC Barcelona team that have plenty of reasons to smile at present. Barça have made a perfect start in the Liga Iberdrola with nine wins in nine, notching 36 goals and only conceding one in the process. The current league leaders are in scintillating form and have made light work of every challenge they have faced so far. It has not just been the case in the league, however, with Barcelona also impressing in Europe. Llorens's side take on FC Twente after getting the better of FC Minsk with a convincing 3-0 win away from home and finishing off the job with a 2-1 success at the Miniestadi, ensuring they remain undefeated in the competition and conceding just one goal in the process.

Next is up is a familiar foe in the shape of Twente. The Dutch side will be out for revenge, having seen their Champions League adventure ended by the Azulgranas at the same stage last season. The Catalan outfit ran out 1-0 winners in each leg, with Olga Garcia on the scoresheet on both occasions. There will certainly be quite a few different names in action this time around, however, with the second-placed club in the Dutch league losing three big players in recent months: Stefanie van der Gragt left for Bayern Munich and Shanice van de Sanden moved to Liverpool, while Marieke Ubachs is unavailable. Renate Jansen, the team's shining light so far this campaign, faces a race to be fit after picking up an injury in her last appearance. 

The whole squad is hoping to continue their excellent form in Europe and, as a minimum, to reach the quarter finals, until now their best performance in the competition.
