Athletic Club downed SD Eibar 0-1 in matchday 25 of Liga BBVA. This result means that Ernesto Valverde's side move up to 10thm while Gaizka Garitano's outfit are seven without a win.
In the first half, both sides came out looking to cause problems, and it was the visitors who went closest after 20 minutes. A great cross from Óscar De Marcos was met by Guillermo Fernández, however Jaime Jiménez was equal to the effort. After 36 minutes, De Marcos once again put in an inviting cross, and this time Carlos Gurpegui was able to open the scoring with a thumping header.
In the second half, Garitano's men looked to be more incisive, and two minutes after the restart went close through Dídac Vilà. Eibar tried, however they created few chances and were unable to test out their rival’s goalkeeper. The second half also served as Aritz Aduriz's 300th and Andoni Iraloa's 500th game in Liga BBVA when they came off the bench. Aduriz had a chance to seal the win for Athletic nine minutes from the end, however Jaime was equal to his headed effort. The scoreline did not change, and Valverde’s side took all three points.
