Real Valladolid CF earned a valiant point from the Estadio de Mestalla with a 2-2 draw against Valencia CF on matchday 13 of the Liga BBVA in a match the away team led on two occasions.
Valencia could have taken an early lead, but Éver Banega fired a penalty over the bar with five minutes on the clock. Four minutes later, Javi Guerra latched onto a sweet cross from Alcatraz to head home and put his side 0-1 ahead. On the verge of half an hour’s play, Dorlan Pabón’s shot from outside the box was deflected into the goal by a Valladolid defender.
In the second half the Valencian rear-guard failed to clear a loose ball and Alcatraz fired across Vicente Guaita and into the back of the net after 50 minutes. Daniel Parejo hit the crossbar with a free-kick one minute later, but the final goal did not come until substitute Sofiane Feghouli put the finishing touches on a cross from Sergio Canales to make it 2-2.
Valladolid has 12 points and is now clear of the relegation zone, while Valencia stays mid-table with 17.
