Previously… Alberto Belsué (b. Zaragoza, 1968) is an ex Spanish footballer who played at right back for Real Zaragoza, Deportivo Alavés, CD Numancia and the Spanish national team.
His achievements… He wore the Zaragoza colours for ten seasons and was a key man in the team’s golden years. With Víctor Fernández in the dugout, Belsué won a Copa del Rey (1993/94) and a European Cup Winners Cup (1994/95). He wore the Aragonese club’s shirt in over 270 encounters, all of them in the Liga BBVA.
After hanging up his boots… He ended his career in the Greek football league playing for Iraklis Thessaloniki FC. After retirement, Belsué went into business with a company that manufactures flooring and sports flooring and equipment.
Did you know… The Aragonese player earned 17 caps for Spain and played in UEFA EURO 1996 with the Spanish national side. Both he and Víctor Fernández, the manager with whom he won his two big trophies, came through the ranks at Zaragoza’s Stadium Casablanca.
