Goals galore, skills aplenty and no shortage of excitement. LaLiga Santander Matchday 21 brought all of that and more, including another fascinating round of LaLiga Fantasy MARCA action, as demonstrated by the Best XI.
Our latest star-studded lineup stands out for its variety, with several fresh faces and no fewer than seven clubs contributing members. SD Eibar are the dominant force with three players, on the strength of their eye-catching 4-0 win at Mestalla, while Atletico Madrid, RCD Espanyol, Villarreal CF, D. Alaves, FC Barcelona and Granada CF are also represented.
Villarreal supply the wearer of the Player of the Matchday crown for the second straight week. On this occasion goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo posted the division's highest points tally (17) after making several key saves – including keeping out a Samir Nasri penalty – in the Yellow Submarine's 0-0 draw with high-flying Sevilla FC at the Sanchez-Pizjuan, one of the toughest stadiums for visiting teams.
Two Espanyol players line up in tandem in defence, Diego Reyes and David Lopez, both of whom bagged 15 points. They are accompanied at the back by cross-town neighbour Aleix Vidal, who helped himself to a goal and 16 points while helping Barça beat Athletic Club, and Alexis, who was also on the scoresheet in Alaves's win away to R. Sporting.
Eibar's Dani Garcia, the scorer of an absolute beauty against Valencia CF, heads the midfield pack with 15 points. He is joined by teammate Gonzalo Escalante and Granada attacking midfielder Andreas Pereira, who was his side's match-winner against UD Las Palmas. Lastly, Sergi Enrich keeps his place up front in the Best XI after another stellar performance earned him 13 points – his partners in crime this time round are Neymar (also 13) and Fernando Torres (16).
