News arrive at RCD Mallorca, and with them Iván Campo. The ex footballer, with a big background in the Liga BBVA and abroad, has been named ambassador of the vermillion football team in Great Britain. "I was in the United Kingdom for six years and I have trusted people there. Our objective is to make the name of Mallorca bigger. Formally a cherished club that did very positive things on a sporting and institutional level", stated Iván Campo.

"When you are in the Liga BBVA and things are going well, the image of the club is always positive and everything tends to get bigger. Once you are 16 in the top flight and then you descend, people forget Mallorca and that glorious age. I believe that you have to start again from the bottom, which is what the club is doing, strengthening the lower ranks and working hard", said Campo about one of the objectives that are being implemented: rebuild the image of the entity on a national level.

Eighteen years after his time as a footballer, the central unit returns to his former home: "This team gave me a lot. I had the fortune of meeting a marvellous changing room, a great fan base. It fills me with happiness to return to a team which has given you so much”. Ahead of a new season and with the excitement of reaching a Mallorca centenary, the San Sebastianite has it all clear: "We will try to take the club to the Liga Adelante with work, strength and with a new sporting Project that will try to make this team as great as it was years ago".

Campo, besides being the ambassador, will be a scout and advisor to the club’s president. He told Laliga.es what his functions would be within the new organisation. “Apart from being an ambassador in the United Kingdom, I will also be the ambassador of Mallorca in Spain. When Claassen cannot go to a game, I'll be the person concerned with the club. Additionally, advising him athletically and we will speak so that everything at a sporting level will come off without a hitch”, he said.

In turn, and within the field of scouting, Campo will have an important mission: attracting new talent: "It's going to give me time to travel and discover footballers. It seems like a very positive option to be able to find young, promising players to grow and come to the first team, or directly be incorporated into the discipline of Chapi Ferrer", exuded the ex player.

Finally, he wanted to highlight the big work, which is being done in the sporting arena: "The club is being adequately structured. The excitement and the experience is the best that we are going to give. Miguel Ángel Nadal is doing a fantastic job in the technical secretariat, trying to make a sport Project with players who are enthusiastic, which is what we have, transmitting Mallorca’s ideas to the fans and that they go to the pitch to support their team. What we are searching for is the message which the technical staff have given: the objective is to return to the Liga BBVA".
