They are admired, they work wonders with the ball and if they were in your LaLiga Fantasy MARCA team when they produced their best performances of the season thus far, you will have been rubbing your hands together with glee.
We bring you the roll call of the five players who have stood out above the rest in LaLiga Fantasy MARCA on at least one occasion during the first six rounds of LaLiga Santander action.
Lionel Messi, 31 points
The FC Barcelona forward can lay claim to the standout display of the campaign so far. The Argentine's star turn against Real Betis on the opening weekend, when he scored two of his side's six goals and made numerous other key contributions, earned him a whopping and hitherto unsurpassed 31 points. Messi was also the top performer in the LaLiga Fantasy MARCA stakes on Matchday 4.
Nabil El Zhar, 24 points
The UD Las Palmas winger is the second-highest-scoring Player of the Matchday to date, having amassed 24 points in the Canary Islanders' 5-1 thrashing of Granada CF on Matchday 2. The France-born Morocco international was not only influential in that game, in which he broke the deadlock and later netted again: his form has been a key factor in Quique Setien's team punching above their weight in the last month and a half.
Antoine Griezmann, 23 points
Griezmann played a pivotal part in Atletico Madrid finally clinching their first win of the season at the third time of asking. The former Real Sociedad schemer was on target twice in the 4-0 romp away to RC Celta at Balaidos and chalked up 23 LaLiga Fantasy MARCA points in the process to bag Player of the Matchday honours.
Sergi Roberto, 19 points
Mr Versatility consistently acquits himself with distinction wherever Luis Enrique fields him, and don't the LaLiga Fantasy MARCA users know it. The Barça academy graduate was the league's outstanding performer last weekend, collecting two assists and 19 points in his side's 5-0 rout of R. Sporting at El Molinon.
Gabriel Mercado, 15 points
The Seville derby between Sevilla FC and Betis was one of the highlights of Matchday 5 and Mercado stole the show. His 51st-minute goal was enough to secure victory for Sevilla and for him to end the matchday as the most valuable player in that round of fixtures. The Argentinian defender has hit the ground running at his new club under compatriot Jorge Sampaoli, proving instrumental in the Europa League champions' fine start to the LaLiga Santander campaign.
