Group A

Borussia Dortmund and Valencia CF fought out a goalless draw, a result that saw both teams fail to qualify for the quarter-finals. Real Madrid and Real Betis also played out a 0-0 draw in the battle for top spot in the group. The result saw the Verdiblancos finish first in Group A (on seven points) and cruise into the knockout stages ahead of the Los Blancos (on five points).

Group B

Paris Saint-Germain also finished top of their group, on seven points, with a 1-0 win over R. Sporting. Despite the defeat, the Spanish side went through to the next round as one of the best third-placed teams (on three points). Second place went to Atletico Madrid who finished the group stages on five points following their 0-0 draw with Juventus.

Group C

FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC served up an entertaining affair as the two teams battled for first place in Group C. Ama scored the only goal of the game as Sevilla ran out 1-0 winners to seal top spot with seven points. Despite the setback, the Azulgranas also made it through to the quarter-finals as the best third-placed team (on four points). Meanwhile, Villarreal CF thrashed Middlesbrough 5-0 to finish second in the group on five points.

Quarter-finals

The knockout stages kicked off with an entertaining encounter between two of Europe's best academies: Paris Saint Germain and Barcelona. The Catalans romped their quarter-final clash and ran out 4-0 winners thanks to goals from Aleix Garrido, Adria Capdevila, Xavier Planas and Pablo Lopez.

Barcelona will face Real Madrid in the semi-finals after Los Blancos came out on top in their tough clash with Sevilla. Manuel Sanchez fired Sevilla into the lead, only for Alex Sanchez to equalise. Madrid won the penalty shootout to seal their place in the next round.

Sporting are another team still looking to lift the title after they knocked out Betis in their quarter-final match. Goals from Christian Ferres and Diego Iza gave them a two-goal lead and Carlos Reina's consolation goal was not enough as Sporting ran out 2-1 winners.

Sporting will face Atletico Madrid in the other semi-final after the Rojiblancos sent Villarreal crashing out of the competition (1-0) courtesy of a late goal from Alejandro Garnacho.
