The battle for fourth place in the Liga BBVA, the last UEFA Champions League qualification berth, is heating up with five teams striving to compete in Europe's elite club competition next year. At the moment, RC Celta de Vigo are winning the race on 25 points, with seven wins, four draws and three defeats from 14 games.

Only a point behind Celta comes Marcelino García Toral's Villarreal, who have their fans excited by the possibility of a return to the Champions League with their strong start to the campaign. RC Deportivo are right on their tails with 22 points. The team lead by Victor Sánchez Del Amo have made a great start to the season dispite having flirted with relegation only last year.

In seventh place with 21 points are Athletic Club. Their blossoming strike partnership, with the experience of Aritz Aduriz and the upcoming Iñaki Williams, has the 'Leones' closing on the top spots after four wins in their last six games.

In eighth and ninth positions, tied on 20 points, are Valencia CF and SD Eibar. The Levantine club will be hoping that the arrival of new coach Gary Neville can reignite their push for the Champions League positions, while the irrepressible Basques have become this season's surprise contenders at the top table.
