Aspas turns executioner again
The RC Celta striker had already hit the back of the net in the previous meeting of the two teams this season, which ended 2-0 to the visitors. This time around, Iago Aspas opened the scoring in the 16th minute of the match to put the Galician side on top after a solid-looking start. In the second half, when Celta were feeling the pressure, the striker popped up again to score off a great Nolito assist.
Cuenca and Peñaranda pose the greatest threat
Granada CF made few incursions into Ruben Blanco's area in the first half, but when they did it was Isaac Cuenca and Adalberto Peñaranda who led the charge. The full-backs linked up with the forwards, particularly Youssef El Arabi, who arrived at Balaidos on the back of a hat-trick and having set his best goalscoring record in the Liga BBVA with 13 so far this season.
An electric second half
The break allowed both teams to up the tempo, resulting in a more open and electric game than in the opening 45 minutes. The situation benefited Granada the most, who were a goal down and intent on finding a way back into the match by breaking quickly and pressing high up the pitch.
Granada get a reward of sorts
The Andalusians managed to equalise and keep the faith after a great start to the second half. The goal came in a move in which Peñaranda toiled hard before Fran Rico's accurate low shot was diverted by El Arabi. Ruben Blanco was unable to get to the ball, and the game was briefly level at 1-1, before Aspas netted his second.
Europa League… and bigger dreams
After mathematically securing a berth in next season's Europa League, the victory means that the Vigo outfit can continue to harbour even bigger dreams. There are still three games to play and Eduardo Berizzo's men are just four points behind Villarreal CF in fourth place.
