BBVA Awards: Abelardo, the best Liga Adelante manager in September

Abelardo Fernández (19 April 1970, Gijon), the R. Sporting coach, has received the award for the Best Manager in the Liga Adelante in September from the hands of the BBVA's Local Commercial Banking Centre Director, Noel Bobes Argüelles, and from Javier de la Chica, the LFP's director of Development, Sponsorship and Licences.

The Asturian manager leads a team replete with youth and promising talent from the Mareo Football School that, after seven matches, has 13 points and is the only unbeaten team in the division. With three victories and four draws, the Rojiblancos have scored ten goals and conceded only six.

The battle for the Liga Adelante leadership is a thriller, with a difference of just nine points between first and ninth places, Abelardo's Sporting are in fourth, level on points with Real Betis. After such a great start to the season, the Asturian outfit look like a serious contender for promotion to the Liga BBVA.
