After welcoming all those present the President of LaLiga emphasised the effort that all the teams need to put in “..both on and off the pitch”. Tebas was referring to budget controls and to the fight for policies of integrity, things which all the clubs and the SAD (sporting PLCs) should take on. “You have joined a Liga of values, where not everything goes to maintain your position. You have to compete with dignity in all areas since, as you know, this is a fundamental issue for LaLiga.”
The newly promoted team received a warm reception and emphasised their excitement about this new era, one in which humility, good management and fair play are the main issues. “We are delighted to be here. We want to be a competitive team and keep our position in LaLiga” Andreu Prats, President of Gimnastic de Tarragona, stated. After twelve years away from professional football Oviedo also communicated their satisfaction via their President Jorge Menendez who said “It has been a long wait but finally we are back where we should be”.
The last two teams to get promoted to the Liga Adelante via play-offs highlighted the sacrifice and the effort that had returned them to the elite level. Fernando Losfablos, Director of Huesca, admitted that “It has been a long time but, with blood, sweat and tears we have made it back to professional football.” The last to hang their flag was Athletic Club B who had encouraging words for Cadiz CF, the team they battled for the last position in the promotion. Javier Aldazabal commented “I want to send special regards to Cadiz and to their fans, they almost made it here.”

The desire to stay in the Liga BBVA was the main theme when it came to the newly promoted teams. Juan Carlos Ollero, President of Betis, made it clear: “Our objective is to continue growing and never go back down again.” Rafael Mendez, advisor to Las Palmas, made a speech along the same lines: “We had never spent so long outside the Liga BBVA and we hope to stay.”
To wrap up, the clubs wished to show their gratitude to LaLiga and to its President for holding this welcoming act for the third consecutive year. President of Sporting Antonio Veiga stated ”I want to thank Javier Tebas for bringing us together and to send congratulations to all my colleagues who, along with us, have achieved the promotion.”
