Spain Experience was given a spectacular welcoming in Brisbane. The LaLiga World programme brought a special event to the capital of Queensland, Australia, attended by local personalities, politicians and people from the business world, who filled the terrace of The Queensland Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA).
Football and business joined forces to promote the image of Spain in Australia, and the most important multinationals in the country were able to strengthen their ties with local businessmen. Villarreal CF, represented by a number of directors and the entire squad, participated actively in the event, projecting the image of the best league in the world internationally, ahead of their final match of the LaLiga World Tour against Brisbane Roar.
Miguel Maestre, the renowned Spanish chef who has a popular programme on Spanish television, made a huge paella for all the attendees, with the help of some members of the Villarreal squad.
Important political figures in Brisbane were well represented at the event, with Angela Owen-Taylor, Brisbane Councillor, and David Quinn, the executive director of Building Queensland, in attendance. Both highlighted the importance of events such as these and institutions such as the ICEX to boost business relations between both countries.
On the Spanish side, Cristina Teijelo, economic and commercial councillor of ICEX in Sydney, JoséLuis Astiazarán, ambassador of LaLiga; Ignacio Martínez Trujillo, director of strategic projects in LaLiga, and Federico Alcácer, director general of Villarreal CF, among others, were in attedance. They all hailed the success of Spain Experience in Brisbane, which should serve as a lever to promote Spanish football on the international stage and spread the values of brand Spain as well as empowering Spanish companies abroad.
