The fanbases of ELGRANDERBI are perhaps two of the most spirited in LALIGA EA SPORTS. Real Betis and Sevilla FC boast loyal followers who stand by them through thick and thin, bringing immense color and passion to the Seville derbies. This rivalry effectively brings the city of Seville to a standstill for practically an entire week leading up to the match.

What are Real Betis fans called?

There are several names and nicknames that represent the team from the Benito Villamarín. All of them are deeply rooted in the club's origins, traditions, or colors. The most common term for Real Betis supporters is béticos, which aligns with the club's name—a tribute to Baetis, the name the Romans gave to the Guadalquivir River.

Additionally, two other nicknames refer directly to the green and white colors of the Real Betis jersey. Many people refer to the team as the “verdiblanco” (green-and-white) side or as the “verderones”.

Lastly, perhaps the most curious nickname is “heliopolitanos”. The Sevillian squad is known by this term due to the location of its stadium. The Benito Villamarín Stadium is situated in the neighborhood of Heliópolis (Greek for "City of the Sun"). In fact, the stadium was named after the neighborhood from 1939 until 1961, when it took on its current name.

What are Sevilla FC fans called?

Similarly, the nicknames referring to Sevilla FC stand out for their traditional ties. The most common term for the fans is “sevillistas”, though they are also sometimes called “blanquirrojos” (white-and-reds) in reference to the colors of their kit and crest, though this is less frequent.

Another widely used name is nervionenses, in honor of the Nervión neighborhood, home to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium and the site of their previous ground, also named Nervión. They are also known as hispalenses, recalling the Roman name for the city of Seville: Hispalis.
