Sevilla FC and Levante UD drew 1-1 on matchday 11 of the Liga BBVA. For the home side it meant two games without a win, while Levante, despite the draw, remain in the relegation zone.
The Andalusians had the biggest share of possession in the first half, but the Granotas defended well and stood up to their opponents. In the early stages of the encounter, it was Lucas Alcaraz’s team that gave the first warning signs with a shot from Víctor Casadesús that Daniel Carriço cleared from the goal line.
Sevilla were quick to respond with a good chance for Alejandro Arribas, who headed a corner, but an alert Diego Mariño prevented a first goal from the home side. Unai Emery’s men persisted and, in the 31st minute, the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán had reason to celebrate. Gerard Deulofeu delivered an excellent cross to Vitolo, who with a powerful strike sent the ball into the visiting side’s top corner.
After the break and with the scoreline in their favour, the home side took the initiative and came close to scoring a second, but Carlos Bacca, who had the best chances, was unsuccessful in front of goal. Levante, meanwhile, gradually improved, tirelessly pressing a Sevilla that were finally overwhelmed and unable to stop Víctor Casadesús’ goal. It was a draw that achieved little for Unai Emery’s side, who remain in fifth place with 23 points.
