Previously… Rubén Sosa Ardáiz (Montevideo, Uruguay, 1966) is a former footballer who played as a forward for Real Zaragoza, for Società Sportiva Lazio and Inter Milan in Italy and for German club Borussia Dortmund, before coming back to Spain to turn out for CD Logroñés.

His achievements… He enjoyed a stellar career and excelled in the teams he played for. During his time at Real Zaragoza he picked up a Copa del Rey winner's medal in 1986. Known as 'El Poeta del Gol', he was also one of the leading lights of the Uruguayan national team, earning 49 caps and scoring 19 goals, in addition to winning the Copa América in 1987 and 1995.

After hanging up his boots… Following a season at Logroñés in which he hit the net seven times, he returned to Uruguay to sign for Nacional. ‘El Principito’ retired at Racing de Montevideo at the age of 40, going on to join the coaching staff at Nacional. His continued involvement in football also sees him teach the sport to Uruguayan children at the academy he has set up in Montevideo.

Did you know… At the 1990 World Cup in Italy, Sosa missed a penalty in his country's match against Spain. It was the sides’ opening game of the tournament and ended 0-0.
