Two teams on the rise cross paths on matchday 14 of the Liga BBVA. Villarreal CF and Real Sociedad will lock horns at the Madrigal on Sunday looking to claim three important points that will enable them to climb the table and get back on track after an inconsistent start.
Team news
Both teams are without several of their key men for this clash in all areas of the field. Marcelino García Toral will have to replace his front-line defenders Mateo Musacchio and Bojan Jokić, as well as forwards Giovani Dos Santos and Cani. Real have a number of players absent, including Mikel González, Joseba Zaldua and Gorka Elustondo in defence, Markel Bergara in midfield, and Imanol Agirretxe in attack.
Views from the dugout
The Yellows' boss was positive and stressed the importance of claiming the three points: "A victory would put us in sixth and move us away from some of the teams that are chasing us in the table". Scottish manager David Moyes analysed his opponents before the clash and said that “Villarreal are a solid, stable team who have gradually improved", but he said that in his dressing room "we have the players to get us out of the relegation zone".
