Two teams with very different objectives face off at the Estadio de Mestalla on matchday 35 in the Liga BBVA. Valencia CF host Eibar in a game which the hosts need to win to keep their hopes of finishing in the top four and qualifying for the Champions League alive. Eibar meanwhile must end their recent losing streak, as they occupy 16th place after suffering four successive defeats.

Nuno Espírito Santo has a full squad to choose from for this match, but Gaizka Garitano is without Raúl Navas and Jaime Jiménez through injury, while Borja Ekiza, Dani Nieto and Dejan Lekic have been left out of the squad by the Basque coach.

Valencia boss Nuno Espírito Santo said his team need to “improve our pressing and our final pass”. He also insisted his side were only focused on their own matches. “I’m not interested what the other teams do, we are only focusing on our next rival.”
Gaizka Garitano, the Eibar coach, said before the game that “Valencia are a team with a lot of resources and quality”. He also sought to lift his team’s spirit. “We have not been in the relegation zone all season and that means we’re doing something right.”
