Matchday 30 of the Liga BBVA serves up a Madrid derby between Rayo Vallecano and Real Madrid. The outfit coached by Paco Jémez are in their best form of the season and are on a run of three consecutive league victories, with an on-fire Alberto Bueno having scored eight in five. Meanwhile, Madrid thrashed Granada CF 9-1 on their most recent top-flight outing, with five-goal hero Cristiano Ronaldo the star of the show.
Team news
As was the case on matchday 29, Rayo's Léo Baptistão is out through injury. For Real Madrid, Álvaro Arbeloa is suspended due to accumulated yellow cards and Gareth Bale is a late doubt because of a knock to his left foot.
Views from the dugout
Jémez explained that he has no intention of changing his playing system to fit his side's opponents: "Whoever plays for Real Madrid, we're not going to change." He also spoke of his aims for the game: "I only dream of my team playing better than Madrid. I want the fans to be on their feet more than they are sitting down."
Carlo Ancelotti highlighted the terrific period that the home side are enjoying: "Rayo are in their best form of the season and the table clearly reflects that. I always prefer teams that close things up at the back, because it means you have control of the play. Rayo like to have possession of the ball and we're aware of the difficulty of this match."
