The president of the Liga de Fútbol Profesional (LFP), Javier Tebas, and the president of the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD), Miguel Cardenal, signed an agreement on Friday through which the LFP will collaborate in the 'Programme for Assistance to High-Level Sportsmen' (PROAD), in order to provide social and vocational integration to high-level sportsmen. With the agreement, the institution will support and advise the sportsmen with the development of their professional careers, alongside their sports careers.

"I would like to thank the CSD for the opportunity it has given us by opening us up to society and sport in general. We are very involved in the world of football and we have the chance to open up to other professionals. When I found out more about the project I knew that the margin of error is minimal because sportsmen, as well as being academically prepared, will also adapt well because they are always eager to make an effort and ready to make sacrifices", stated Tebas after signing the agreement.

For his part, Miguel Cardenal also wanted to talk about the work being carried out by the LFP. "Javier Tebas is aware of the difficulties faced by sport in general and he has never shied away from the problem, in fact he has presented us with a lot of ideas. We are putting our best into the Liga de Fútbol Profesional, our sportsmen are spectacular. Many of them have the best academic results in Spain", explained Cardenal.

The first to benefit from the programme will be taekwondo athlete Nico García and luger Ander Mirambell. Both sportsmen will work professionally with the Liga de Fútbol Profesional, which is a significant boost for PROAD.

"I think it is important that we are able to develop on a professional level outside of sport", said Nicolás García, who spoke of his excitement and desire to start this new challenge. Ander Mirambell, who was not able to attend the signing, also wanted to show his gratitude with a video addressed to Javier Tebas: "I would like to thank you for the opportunity you have given me and to say that it is an honour to be working with the best league".
