  • The Anoeta stadium was open on July 29 1993 for the celebration of the European Athletics Junior Championships.
  • The first football match came later, on 13 August 1993. It was a friendly game between Real Sociedad and Real Madrid which ended with a 2-2 draw.
  • Loren, current sporting manager of Real Sociedad, scored the first goal in the history of Anoeta in the match against the merengue side. The first visitor goal was achieved Emilio Butragueño.
  • After the match against Real Madrid, an opening party called KaixoAnoeta, with bands and artists like Luz Casal, Oskorri and Orquesta Mondragón was held.
  • Anoeta has not only embraced football and athletics events. Rugby teams as Biarritz Olympique or AvironBayonnais have also used this pitch.
  • Real Sociedad scored his biggest win in Anoeta on 12 May 1996 with an 8-1 win against Albacete Balompié.
  • Anoeta is one of Europe Category 4 stages, the highest awarded by UEFA.
  • Real Madrid was also invited to the celebration of the club centenary on 2009, but that time the madrileños won the match by 0-2.
  • In 1998 an extension of the north and south terraces left its capacity to 32,076 seats.
  • Internationally renowned bands and artists such as Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, U2 or Bon Jovi made vibrate the public of San Sebastián at this stage.
