Six Liga forwards nominated for the 'FIFA FIFPro World XI 2014'

The Liga BBVA is in a celebratory mood. The constellation of stars who, each weekend, strut their stuff up and down the country at the top level in Spanish football are also fighting it out for a place among the 11 best players of the year, thanks to the 'FIFA FIFPro World XI 2014'.

From the national league there are two goalkeepers nominated (Iker Casillas and Claudio Bravo), in addition to ten defenders and five midfielders . The cast is completed with six forwards who represent Liga BBVA all over the world and show their class every weekend. Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr., Karim Benzema, Luis Suárez and Gareth Bale, for their footballing qualities, are fighting it out for a spot up top in the 'Team of the Year'.

Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona share out the nominees in the forward position, with six players who were of the utmost importance for their sides, fundamental to the Whites and Azulgranas play all shortlisted.

Despite not being in Spain anymore, there are a number of nominations involving former Liga men. This is the case with Diego Costa, who with 32 goals was one of the main reasons that Atlético Madrid were crowned Liga BBVA champions in 2013/14. Zlatan Ibrahimović, Arjen Robben and Sergio 'Kun' Agüero have all at one time or another plied their trade in Spain and will all be looking for a spot in the XI.
